A small backyard blaze from this afternoon was extinguished quickly thanks to the Thornhill Fire Department.
Crews originally responded to the fire on the 4500 block of Queensway Drive just after 2:00 this afternoon.
When they arrived on scene, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which had burnt a roughly 30 square meter area.
According to Thornhill Fire Chief Rick Boehm, the blaze had built up around a number plastic items as well as 2 locked shipping containers.
Once the fire was extinguished, crews were able to determine that the paint inside the containers had burnt off, causing toxic smoke to fill them.
Chief Boehm is reminding residents to exercise caution when burning, and to never leave a fire unattended.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
