A project to further honour the life and sacrifices of Doctor Stanley Mills and his wife was presented to Terrace City Council last night.
Put forward by the 100 Year Celebration Committee, the project would see a plaque and commemorative stone placed at the former site of the Mills’ home.
58 years ago, Dr. Mills and wife Edith passed away tragically in a fire at their Lazelle Avenue home.
Part of the proposal would see a plaque placed at the Lazelle and Atwood site, along with an event to celebrate Dr. Mills.
Total costs for the project are estimated to be in the one to two thousand dollar range.
Councillors eventually voted 4-1 in favour of supporting the proposal, with Councillor Bujtas sitting out until the Mills family can get involved with the project.
