Two agreements signed between the Gitxaala Nation and the province will provide sustained financial benefits from LNG.
Under the first agreement, the Nation will receive 57 million dollars of initial funding over 4 years to grow and improve infrastructure.
That same agreement, the LNG Benefits agreement, will also fund the creation of a legacy fund.
Future security comes with the second agreement, the Coastal Fund Agreement, which will see the Nation draw an estimated 600 to 800 thousand dollars annually.
Figures from that deal will depend on the volume of LNG which ends up being shipped.
Both of the agreements seek to ensure the Gitxaala benefit from the job opportunities, business opportunities, and revenue growth that the LNG project in Kitimat will bring.
