Both the Kitsumkalum and Gitxaala First Nations will benefit from a pair of LNG agreements signed with the province.
Initial funding will be provided by the LNG Benefits Agreement to go towards growing and improving infrastructure.
Under that agreement, the Gitxaala will receive 57 million dollars over the next four years, while the Kitsumkalum will see 20.35 million.
Funding from the LNG Benefits Agreement will also go towards the creation of a legacy fund.
In addition, each of the Nations will receive an estimated 600 to 800 thousand annually under the Coastal Fund Agreement.
Exact figures from that deal will depend on the volume of LNG which ends up being shipped.
Both agreements seek to ensure the Nations continue to benefit from the job opportunities, business opportunities, and revenue growth that the LNG project in Kitimat will bring.
