Legislative changes beginning today will help to support the health and sustainability of BC’s forests and range lands.
Initial ammendments to the Forest and Range Practices Act will take effect today, with more coming in over the next 2 years.
Changes will: create more frequent and reliable opportunities for public input, improve information sharing, strengthen the Minister’s management abilities, help to protect at-risk species, and streamline range-use planning.
All of the changes are based off of more than a decade of feedback and analysis.
Most proposed changes under the new legislation will come in to effect next spring.
