Road crews will be out marking highways 16 and 97 during the next few weeks.
Line painting is getting underway near Vanderhoof and Prince George depending on the weather.
The transportation ministry says higher standards, like thicker paint and enhanced monitoring, will make the markings easier for people to see.
Officials expect to see 20 per cent more lines marked each year throughout the province and second coats for areas of high wear.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, obey flaggers and use caution when travelling through areas where crews are marking pavement.
