A small plane has crashed north of Smithers.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria says it received an emergency notification at 8:45 Saturday morning from a Cessna 182 approximately 50 nautical miles north of Smithers Landing.
A Cormorant Search and Rescue helicopter and a Buffalo Search and Rescue plane were sent out from CFB Comox.
The JRCC says a chopper from Canadian Helicopters in Smithers was able to locate the crash site.
Officials say search and rescue efforts are underway.
It’s not known how many people may have been on the plane or their condition, but the aircraft seats up to four people.
