Three projects in Northwestern BC have been selected to receive grant funding under the province’s community resliency grants program.
Each of the approved projects focus on utilizing holistic approaches to reduce wildfire risks in their communities.
Just under 100 thousand dollars is being given to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine to assist in education, planning, and training for FireSmart activities.
Nearly 25 thousand will go to the Gitanyow Band for training and education.
And the Atlin Improvement District will see 45 thousand dollars to help initiate their FireSmart activities.
In total, 6 million dollars in grants were provided to 85 communities across the BC.
