The BC Wildfire Service says firefighters have made good progress on a fire burning near Fraser Lake.
The Lejac wildfire is now considered held and has not grown since Saturday.
“In other words, the fire is 50 per cent contained and 70 per cent of the fire has been machine guarded and 30 per cent has natural fuel breaks,” said Fire Information Officer Molly Blower Sunday night.
Blower says more accurate mapping pegs the fire at 236 hectares compared to the initial estimate of 260 hectares.
Five wildfire crew members will be watching the fire Sunday night and all 40 plus firefighters and one medium helicopter will be back fighting the blaze Monday.
With progress fighting the flames, affected residents may soon be allowed to return home.
Blower says the BC Wildfire Service is recommending changes to the current evacuation orders and advisories, but she says that will be done at the discretion of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.
