Both the Cariboo and Kitimat-Stikine Regional Districts will receive a portion of new provincial emergency preparedness funds.
22 local and regional governments will share in 3 million dollars to support flood risk assessments, mapping, and mitigation planning.
In the Cariboo, 150 thousand dollars will go towards floodplain mapping and prioritization, with a focus on the Thompson River watershed.
98 thousand dollars will be invested in phase 2 of the Kitimat-Stikine’s Skeena and Lower Kalum Channel Management Program.
This funding comes from the fifth stream of the province’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
