An outdoor gym which had served Prince Rupert residents for nearly a decade has been torn down.
Located outside the Civic Centre, the playground was removed after an inspection ruled it required significant maintenance and repair.
City Council ruled that, since the gym was rarely used, the best course of action was to tear it down for liability reasons.
Locals had reported safety issues relating to the worn out and rusting equipment in the past.
As of now, the City has no plans to establish a new outdoor workout or playground area as a replacement.
