Terrace City Council will be holding a public hearing on Monday regarding a bylaw amendment and related rezoning.
If approved, the amendment would alter the Official Community Plan to include a new Bare Land Strata Single Detached Residential zone known as RB1.
Bare land strata zoning allows for the building of smaller, more affordable homes, making more efficient and sustainable use of land.
Under the new zone, homeowners would build a residence on their property, sharing common areas and amenities with their neighbours.
In order to create a new zone, the City must have a rezoning proposal to support the change.
So, in addition to speaking on the bylaw itself, attendees of the hearings will also have a chance to speak on an accompanying rezoning.
That proposal would see 4921 Halliwell Avenue subdivided in to 20 small lots to accomodate the new style of housing.
Residents can attend the hearing at the Council Chambers at 7:00 Monday evening.
