Bachrach beat out Amanda Ramsay, Annita McPhee, and Greg Brown to win the nomination on the first ballot Saturday in Terrace.
He thanked his fellow candidates and family, saying he is deeply humbled and honoured with the opportunity.
The nomination became necessary when Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen announced in March that he would not be running for another term in office.
Cullen offered his congratulations to Bachrach and the candidates for their campaigns, noting that the party membership in the riding tripled during the process.
The federal election is set for October 21.
