With an employee threatening to leak confidential information, the Nisga’a Lisims Government is set to launch an independant investigation.
Those plans come after the Nation received an injunction order against IT manager Andre Cardinal.
According to the NLG, Cardinal allegedly photographed financial documents and set up an email account to copy NLG emails, then sent an email threatening to reveal sensative information.
As a result, the Nation filed a notice of civil claim against Cardinal, leading to an interim injunction stopping him from distributing the information.
Cardinal, who is currently on administrative leave, says he is prepared to go to jail to “bring light on a dark corner of the Nisga’a Nation”.
Exactly what information Cardinal is threatening to reveal is unknown at this time.
NLG President Eva Clayton says they do take his allegations very seriously, but need time to investigate.
None of the allegations on either side have been proven in court.
