Among rising temperatures and drought-like conditions, the BC Wildfire Service has preemptively set up camp in the northwest.
A 150 person camp is being set up by the Service in Dease Lake to house a wildfire management team which will oversee activities in the area.
Currently, the fire danger rating across most of northern BC is listed as high to extreme, with the Cassiar Fire Zone representing particular concern.
According to the Service, Cassiar crews are already combating three new fires as well as managing potential holdovers from last year.
