Multiple northwestern teachers unions have come together to issue a vote of non-confidence in School District 82 Superintendent Katherine McIntosh.
Members of the Kitimat District Teachers’ Association, Terrace District Teachers’ Union, and Upper Skeena Teachers voted 99 percent in favour of the decision during a vote held last week.
Concerns over recent administration and leadership level role changes prompted an initial public outcry.
Since then, a number of Indigenous, and local groups and stakeholders have come forward to issue firm disapproval of the moves.
Now members of the unions are saying that her decisions have created a divide among the community at large, as evidenced by recent parent rallies.
In a letter sent out by the Coast Mountain Teachers’ Federation today, they ask to meet with the Board of Education to discuss their concerns in person.
