A much anticipated replacement is on the way for the Haisla Bridge in Kitimat as part of a 275 million dollar federal investment.
Federal Finance Minister Marc Garneau was on hand in Kitimat to make the announcement, alongside Skeena MLA Ellis Ross and Haisla Chief Councillor Crystal Smith.
All three touted the move as the first in a long line of projects that will come to the area following last year’s LNG Canada Final Investment Decision.
Last October, the federal government announced a 275 million dollar investment in projects to support LNG Canada’s development.
55 million of that investment will go towards the new bridge, which is expected to take 4 years to build.
The remaining 220 million dollars will go towards high-efficiency gas turbines for LNG Canada’s Kitimat plant.
