A group known as the Concerned Nisga’a Citizens are asking fellow Nation members to speak from the heart at a rally this Friday.
At 10:45, the group says it will gather the Nisga’a Lisims offices in New Aiyansh to bring attention to what they say are concerns with the government.
The rally will now officially begin at noon.
They are asking other Nisga’a members to show up equipped with drums and signs to let their concerns be known.
The organizers are calling on other Nisga’a members to attend the event.
The rally follows allegations of wrongdoing by a Nisga’a Lisims Government employee contained in an email to NLG staff May 15.
In a communique sent to Nisga’a members Tuesday, June 25, the government says the individual is no longer employed with the NLG and that they’ve “come to a resolution satisfactory to both parties.”
The Nisga’a Lisims Government received a court injunction to prevent further alleged publishing of what it says are confidential documents. It’s also seeking to have the former employee’s email sealed.
In an earlier message to Nisga’a citizens, NLG President Eva Clayton said there would be a probe of the allegations by an independent investigator with no ties to NLG.
The latest communique from the Nisga’a Lisims Government says it hopes to put the issue behind them.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
