City Council has voted to sign an agreement which will keep the buses flowing in Terrace for the next 3 years.
Most of the costs covered in the Annual Operating Agreement with BC Transit stuck relatively close to the draft budget.
Total operating costs in the final budget are estimated at just over 1 million 352 thousand dollars.
For the City of Terrace, that works out to a budget of roughly 451 thousand dollars, or 60 thousand less than the draft budget.
According to city staff, the budget cut results from lower than projected spending for fuel and fleet maintenance in the 2018/2019 budget.
Those savings increased the 2019 reserve budget and this agreement’s cut will compensate for the lower cost requirements.
While fees to passengers are set to remain the same for now, BC Transit is currently undergoing a province-wide rate review.
