Telkwa Village Councillor Matthew Monkman is set to step down as he prepares for a new role with School District 54.
Monkman was recently named the next assistant superintendent of the District.
As a result, he will be stepping down from his role with the village council on August 1st.
In a statement, Monkman said the move was in the best interest of all parties as he would not be able to fully focus on both duties.
City staff hope to hold a by-election to replace Monkman by late November or early December in order to avoid a conflict with the October federal election.
