Construction on a much anticipated roundabout which will help connect the Northwest is ready to begin soon.
In a release this morning, the Ministry of Transportation says the project will soon pick up, but gave no specific dates.
In an effort to better improve the increasing traffic flow in the northwest, the roundabout will replace an existing four way stop at the intersections of Highways 16 and 37 in Terrace.
Total costs for the project are pinned at 9.3 million dollars, with 7.6 million coming from the province and 1.7 million from the feds.
The most up-to-date project guide on the Ministry’s website only lists Spring 2019 as a starting date, with Fall of 2019 pinned for completion.
Aside from the improved traffic flow, the roundabout also seeks to add a special aesthetic to the community.
An extravagent display, representing the community’s diversity and history, is being planned by the Skeena Salmon Arts Festival Society.
