BC Hydro is trying to get power restored to over 5000 customers across northwest B.C.
Adverse weather is blamed for blackouts affecting about 1800 customers in the Terrace area that began at about 4:30 Monday afternoon.
Over 800 customers were without power in Stewart, although the cause is under investigation.
Over 2400 customers lost power in the Hazelton and New Hazelton areas between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 and there were dozens of customers without electricity in pockets around Smithers,
Hydro says the cause of those outages also remains under investigation.
Much of the Northwest was under a severe thunderstorm watch from Environment Canada during the outages.
