The City of Terrace will add its support to a letter calling on Ottawa to help B.C.’s battered forest industry.
Council agreed to add Mayor Carol Leclerc’s signature to the letter after a request from Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall.
The letter, requesting federal aid for forestry-dependent communities will be sent to Minister of Natural Resources Amarjeet Sohi and two other federal ministers.
The move comes after a wave of layoffs, mills closures, and curtailments across the B.C. forest sector due in part to poor lumber markets, high log costs, and trade difficulties.
