The Northwest Regional Airport wants to convert an existing hangar into a flight logistics centre.
The goal of the commercial flight centre, which would be based out of the former Hawkair hangar, would be to handle charter flights bringing LNG Canada employees to and from the Northwest.
Haisla Solutions submitted development application on behalf of the airport that would see improvements to the outside of the building, seating for 250 people, and upgrades to existing parking.
Council heard that employees travelling through the flight center would be transported to and from the airport by bus.
The flight centre would not be permanent and would revert to aircraft storage and maintenance once LNG work is complete.
Terrace council passed a motion in favour of the development at its Monday meeting.
