The Northwest Fire Centre says a wildfire burning near Highway 37 has grown to about 40 hectares.
The Mehan Creek fire was spotted August 7 and listed at approximately 10 hectares Thursday.
Fire Information Officer Carolyn Bartos says there are two unit crews with air support fighting the flames about four kilometres south of Bell ll.
Bartos says the Barrington River fire burning 50 km west of Telegraph Creek is producing plenty of smoke, but is still holding at 4400 hectares.
Bartos says the Southwest Tagish Lake fire 41 kilometres west of Atlin remains at 1400 hectares.
BC Wildfire Service crews have set up structure protection units at a couple of properties and Emergency Management BC has issued an evacuation order for the area.
Bartos says cloudy conditions are expected across much of the Northwest Fire Centre’s area in the coming days with the exception of some hot, sunny weather near the Yukon border..
The fire danger rating is mainly moderate with a patch of extreme in the Cassiar fire zone.
