Terrace Search and Rescue was able to help pull an injured worker out of a tough spot over the weekend.
Search manager Dave Jephson says they got a call Saturday at 3 p.m. from Smithers Search and Rescue about a geologist who had slipped and fallen in a deep gully in the Burrage Creek area 65 km outside Bell II.
The SAR team traveled 331 km by helicopter to the remote work site and was able to conduct a long line rescue from the chopper.
The injured worker, who suffered a severely broken ankle, was looked over by Smithers Search and Rescue before being choppered back to Terrace.
Jephson says the man was transferred to ambulance crews at about 9:30 and was later sent to Prince Rupert for surgery.
