The District of New Hazelton will officially get the keys to its new fire truck later this month.
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine says the water tender is outfitted with extensive capability and will primarily serve the South Hazelton and Rural Hazelton area.
The vehicle replace an aging fire response unit that is due to be retired and can also fill in for the larger main vehicle in New Hazelton when it’s out for servicing.
Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rick Boehm, who has been working on behalf of the
Regional District with District of New Hazelton Fire Chief Cliff Coukell on the project says the the vehicle will provide for a growing community.
The Regional District will ceremoniously pass the keys for the new apparatus to New Hazelton
at its regular meeting on August 23, 2019.
