Prince Rupert residents are another step closer to safe, clean drinking water.
The federal and provincial governments have announced funding that will see construction of a new water treatment plant and submarine water pipeline across Fern Channel to replace the city’s aging infrastructure.
North Coast NDP MLA Jennifer Rice says the project will put an end to boil water advisories that have plagued the city in the past.
Ottawa is putting in $12,058,520, Victoria $10,047,761, and the City of Prince Rupert $8,040,019 which will see phase three of the water project completed.
The City’s water treatment facilities will be constructing across the harbour to Kaien Island so that there will be direct access during any significant weather event.
