The Prince Rupert Port Authority has found a new Chair for its Board of Directors.
Frans Tjallingii, who has served on the board since 2017, takes over the position previously held by Bud Smith from 2012 to 2019.
The port authority says Tjallingii is an experienced business leader, advisor, and entrepreneur with extensive leadership experience in the maritime, oil & gas and technology industries.
“I am excited about the future of PRPA and its role in developing the Port of Prince Rupert as a Canadian and global gateway,” said Tjallingii in a news release Tuesday. “Bud Smith exemplified board leadership over the past seven years, and I’m honored to be following in his footsteps. I believe in this organization’s purpose and its people, and I’m looking forward to further serving it in this new role.”
John Farrell served as the Board’s Acting Chair since Smith’s departure in June 2019.
