RCMP say they plan to bump up speed enforcement on a forestry road near Houston this fall.
Police say they’ve received increasing numbers of complaints about speeding along the Morice River Forest Service Road from community members and industry.
The route through Wet’suwet’en territory has seen increased traffic since Coastal GasLink contractors began working on the gas pipeline project.
RCMP say the narrow gravel roads are dusty and can limit visibility for drivers. As winter approaches, road use by residents, construction, and forestry crews is expected to increase.
Mounties say enforcement from its temporary detachment in the area will occur at a variety of locations along the road and neighbouring routes.
