Rio Tinto’s Kitimat operations have reached a new standard.
The smelter and Kemano Power Operations have received certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.
Rio Tinto says ASI’s Chain of Custody certification reinforces the company’s commitment to responsible mining and metals production.
It provides independent verification that material can be traced all the way from the company’s bauxite mine in Australia to its smelters in Quebec and B.C.
With the addition of Kitimat to the initiative, Rio Tinto says all of its Canadian operations are now independently certified.
