According to Chris Ashurst, president of the Masset Marine Rescue Society upgrades to local internet networks and cellular service have made a big difference in the work they do.
Masset Marine Rescue responds to about 10 incidents a year. They cover a large area including, the Dixon Entrance, Northern Hectate Strait, the Masset Inlet and many other areas around Haida Gwaii.
Another key to their success is the new fast-response rescue vessel. The new vessel is a fully equipped Titan Falkins Class, the preferred boat for west coast rescue organizations.
