MLA Ellis Ross hosted a public forum today talking about the recent decline in the forestry industry. He was joined by MLA John Rustad.
Joining with members from the city and people from the forestry industry he hopes to be able to find a solid solution to this growing issue.
Ross is hoping to get ahead of the issue before it gets worse in the area. According to Ross theres been a wide variety of solutions suggested including, creating more value added wood, bio energy and even having the federal government coming in to use the wood to solve northern housing issues.
There are many people still concerned about the future of forestry as this has been one of the worst declines in the industry with 89 sawmills seeing curtailments or shutdowns.
The suggestions people make at the event will be made public as they are sent to the government.
