Geotechnical engineers will be taking a closer look at a rock slide east of Telegraph Creek.
For now, the only route into the Tahltan community remains shut down.
the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says the slide came down across Highway 51 at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials say there were no injuries reported and communication lines to Telegraph Creek are still operational.
Crews and equipment are at the scene of the slide and an assessment of the slide is in its early stages.
The next update is expected at 8 a.m. Wednesday, but the ministry says the road will only be cleared and reopened when its safe to do so.
