There is a new elected leader of the Lax Kw’alaams Band, but it’s a familiar name.
Garry Reece unseated incumbant mayor John Helin by a relatively narrow margin in Wednesday’s vote.
Reece picked up 291 votes while Helin received 276.
Reece previously held the position of Mayor, but was defeated by Helin in the 2015 election.
Elected to Lax Kw’alaams council are Robert Hughes, Braden Dudoward, Kelly Sampson, Gerri Alexcee, Leona Wells, Theodore White, Betty Reece, Andrew Jackie Tait, Angela Green, Robert Moraes, Harvey Gary Russell (off), and Joey Wesley (off).
There were a total of 949 ballots cast.
