The former mayor of Burns Lake has been sentenced to two years, less a day for sex crimes.
The crimes, some of which were committed while Luke Strimbold was in office, were all against youth under 16.
The 28-year-old Strimbold pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count each of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
The Crown was seeking four to six years in federal prison while the defence asked for 18 months in a provincial facility.
The sentence was handed down via video conference today after the judge’s flight to Smithers was cancelled Wednesday morning.
