The Prince Rupert Port Authority announced a collaborative agreement with the City of Prince Rupert to incorporate new recreational access to a wetlands and fish restoration project along the Seal Cove Slough shoreline.
The habitat compensation project will include the development of new marine riparian areas, intertidal marshes and mudflats, eelgrass beds and other shoreline planting. It will also serve to enhance the visual appeal and include educational components. There will be a lighted pathway, tables, benches and a pedestrian bridge.
Shaun Stevenson, President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority says that this habitat enhancement project will reinvigorate an area impacted by historical industrial use while creating new recreational waterfront access.
