A Terrace area family has been struck with a tragic house fire just days before Christmas.
The Seymour family’s home in Gitaus caught fire around midnight Saturday. Family members made their way out, but lost two pets and their belongings, save a few Christmas gifts.
The Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department says says the call come in about 12:30 Sunday morning and found smoke billowing from the roof when firefighters arrived.
Emergency support services are helping the family out, but at this point it isn’t known when they will be allowed to return home.
One family member was treated for smoke inhalation.
