Prince Rupert residents got to take a first look at the upcoming 2020 budget at last nights council meeting.
The proposed budget would see an increase to the paving budget to $1 million this year. There is also money being set aside to cover the debt for a new RCMP station as well as a dam project and the expansion of the landfill.
Some of the other highlights from this budget include no tax increases, renewal of the city’s official community plan and an increase in grants to community organizations. Public budget consultations will be held March 9 and 23 at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
