MLA for North Coast and Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness Jennifer Rice is welcoming over $86,000 in provincial funding. The funding will help fire departments in Haida Gwaii and Port Edward with equipment and training costs.
The specific departments that are receiving the funding are, North Coast Regional District, Old Masset Village Council, Port Edward, Sandspit Volunteer Fire Department and Skidegate Band.
This funding is being provided through the Emergency Preparedness Fund and is part of $5 million in provincial emergency preparedness funding supporting fire departments in communities all across B.C.
