Rio Tinto announced today that it will donate $50,000 to the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation, to ensure that supplies needed in the ongoing battle against Covid-19 are available.
“It will be used for supplies and equipment that are needed at the hospital to support the community of Kitimat and Kitamaat Village,” said Kitimat General Hospital Foundation’s Cynthia Medeiros.
During the current crisis, the Kitimat smelter operations has taken steps to ensure its workforce is safe and healthy. Including, eliminating non-essential work, site restrictions, eliminated business travel, implemented social distancing guidelines and reduced the size of meetings and encouraging people to host video meetings.
