Police are asking people to be vigilant with their property following a week that included multiple theft files and arrests.
On April 15, Terrace RCMP received several reports of someone trying to break into trailers. Police located a man identified as the suspect in a white Chevrolet Silverado. The man fled from the vehicle on Yeo Street and hid in the bushes, where he was located with the assistance of the Police Dog Services team.
Neil Lenard Strain, 48, of Terrace BC, is charged with Failing to Stop Motor Vehicle while Being Pursued by Police, Theft Under $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and Driving While Prohibited. He was held in custody by police for court, on Apr. 17, he was released on bail.
On Apr. 16, around 10 p.m., Terrace RCMP received a report of a theft at a business on the 4500 block of Greig Avenue. Police were unsuccessful in capturing the suspect that night, but located him the next day. He fled from police but was located with the assistance of the Police Dog Services team.
Anthony Keenan Pearson,20, of Terrace BC, is charged with Theft Under $5,000, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Non-Compliance of a Probation Order, and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. He remains in custody as he awaits court. More charges are pending related to other files.
Both arrests involved prolific offenders in the Terrace area, said RCMP Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson.
Businesses and residents are asked to ensure they double check their locks, ensure security systems are working and activated, and hide their valuables.
