The Lax Kw’alaams government has released an advisory to its members.
Council has decided to lift restrictions and slowly open the community. This comes as Covid-19 restrictions begin to relax across B.C. following advice of the Provincial Health Officer.
The pandemic is not over yet and council is reminding everyone to continue to exercise caution. Effective on Mon. the ferry will resume normal operations. Incoming and outgoing traffic will still be limited to band members and spouses. If a non-band member is looking to enter the community you’re asked to email before travelling at cao@laxband.com. Incoming traffic will be screened by a nurse who will take your temperature and ask you a series of questions.
Some issues have changed as of a result of council’s decision including, isolation not being required unless signs of Covid are evident, schools remaining closed until Sept., security personnel will no longer be required, non-band members cannot refuel in the harbour and cable and Internet will remain free until June 1.
