The Dr. R.E.M. Lee Foundation has received a donation from the 4 Rivers Coop.
The donation of $10,000 is going towards paying off one of the infant ventilators that has been purchased at Mills Memorial Hospital. Jacque Wilkinson a Nurse Manager at the hospital says typically they have two ventilators on hand. Though due to maintenance only one of them is typically functional.
Terrace is the only area with pediatrics coverage and services a wide area. Over 300 babies are born at the hospital every year. If a baby is in need of special medical attention they are typically flown down to Vancouver to receive the treatment they need.
Nirmal Parmar, the Board Director of 4 River Coop says that this Community Support Fund is a fund that companies can apply for every year. At the end of Sept. the process begins to apply for it and by the end of Oct. the companies receiving the money are chosen.
