The B.C. Liberals are calling on John Horgan and the NDP to take steps to improve supports for seniors and staff in long term care.
This call comes from the Leader of the Official Opposition Andrew Wilkinson, along with Opposition Health Critic Norm Letnick and Opposition Critic for Seniors Care Linda Reid. Wilkinson has said that the pandemic has shed light on several gaps that exist in senior care support services.
In a letter to the Premier, Wilkinson has recommended a series of actions from the government, which include: launching a thorough independent review of Long Term Care in B.C., creating a comprehensive resource strategy to meet the growing demand for staffing in seniors’ care and by establishing a resource strategy and timeline that would allow people to visit their loved ones while adhering to physical distancing measures.
In the letter Wilkinson says that seniors in all parts of the province should expect the same level of care.
