The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Prince Rupert and the City of Prince Rupert’s Economic Development Office are launching a new survey to collect information about Prince Rupert Residents travel intentions and their level of comfort moving into the summer season.
As B.C. moves into Phase 3, travel inside the province will be encouraged again. Once travel outside of B.C. resident’s home communities is allowed, tourism-dependant businesses in Prince Rupert will be relying on visitors from elsewhere in B.C. The cancellation of the cruise season, which was expected to generate approximately $1.9 million for local businesses left a financial gap and Prince Rupert is hoping to fill the financial gap with visitors from elsewhere.
Tourism Prince Rupert is developing a recovery marketing strategy for the summer of 2020, aimed at supporting the local tourism sector by bringing additional revenue to local businesses. Before the campaign can be launched, it’s important to understand how Prince Rupert residents feel about travel this summer and visitors coming into the city.
The survey can be accessed at the Engage Prince Rupert Website.
