The City of Terrace has announced it will be receiving $500,000 from the Rural Community Development Grant.
The funding will allow the city to go ahead with the Grand Trunk Pathway Completion and Connection Project. This portion of the project is projected to cost $1 million to complete. In Mar. 2020, the City of Terrace allocated $505,000 from the 2019 Gas Tax program to put towards this project.
David Block, Director of Development Services says, “We now have all the funding required to get started, so the project can go ahead and design work can begin as scheduled later this year.”
Originally, the city began working on the Grand Trunk Pathway Master Plan in 2008 as a way to guide and complete the primary pedestrian and cycling trail in the city. The plan’s vision was to link downtown Terrace to the Kitsumkalum River. The Master Plan contained a general design concept for the entire pathway, adopting the general character of the existing Millennium section, which was completed in 2002.
The City of Terrace also received $217,635 for the Munroe Street Active Transportation Enhancements project.
