The government has announced funding for eight projects through the British Columbia Salmon Restoration and Innovation Fund.
The projects will receive roughly $10.5 million. This brings the total number of projects funded to 38, accounting for $66.9 million out of $142.85 million in total allocated funding. The projects receiving funding are the Pacific Salmon Foundation, ‘Namgis First Nation, Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, the University of B.C., Lower Fraser Fisheries Alliance Society and Spruce City Wildlife Association.
The projects range from habitat restoration, sample analysis, upgrading technology to help monitor salmon, as well as improving monitoring methods and further research into sustainability.
