Applications for StudentAid B.C. and the new non-repayable B.C. Access Grant, are now open.
The grants and funding will help students with disabilities as well as, expanding online education resources.
Students who apply for StudentAid B.C. will now automatically be assessed for the new B.C. Access Grant. Originally announced in the budget of 2020, the grant will benefit 40,000 low and middle income students.
These students will receive up to $4,000 a year to help with the up-front cost of programs leading to a certificate, diploma or degree. Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training Melanie Mark also announced new investments totalling $2.175 million to support post-secondary students and faculty.
The funding will include $1.5 million that will be shared by 20 public post-secondary institutions throughout B.C. to develop and build better supports for students with cognitive, mental health or physical disabilities.
The provincial government will also provide $275,000 to develop online resources and tools for students.
