The province is implementing a provincial vaping plan, which was originally announced in Nov. 2019.
The regulations restrict the content, flavour, packaging, advertising and sale of vapour products in British Columbia. B.C.’s ministries of Health and Education will also establish a provincial youth advisory council to develop, pilot and launch strategies to help reduce vaping by young people.
Under the new regulation the amount of nicotine in vapour and liquids pods is restricted to 20mg/ml. Similarly to cigarettes under the new regulation retailers will only be able to sell vapour products that are plainly packaged and have health warnings on them. It will be a short transition period for current retailers as the regulation is being put into effective immediately.
The regulation immediately prohibits all retailers from selling non-nicotine or nicotine-cannabis blended vapour products.
Additional changes to the Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Regulation bans advertising of vapour products in places where youth can access.
